“Success is not final; failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.”
– Winston Churchill
What another amazing month of writing a poem a day for April on the theme of Growth. It has been so lovely to meet more writers and poets who are showing up bravely to pursue a flourishing writing life.
As we all enjoyed the writing session so much, I thought I would add an EXTRA one in today, not only to share your beautiful poems with the community and what we loved about them, but to write together on the final prompt of the month and ready ourselves for what the month of May has to offer. The video can be found at the bottom of this post - enjoy!
I would also like to say a huge congratulations to
who has won our special giveaway prize which features a signed copy of my book Plant Your Poetry: 365 Poems and Prompts to Grow Your Writing Habit AND a special guided meditation called ‘The Writer’s Coat’, dedicated to helping people to embody and accept the role of the writer in their life, (Lori you will be receiving a direct message from me soon!).This month was completely free for all subscribers to celebrate National Poetry Month and it being one year since my book Plant Your Poetry: 365 Poems and Prompts to Grow Your Writing Habit was published - so do make sure you check out April’s Plant Your Poetry Prompt Calendar if you would like a free writing session, as well as a month of prompts to stash away for a rainy day.
For those that are new here, Plant Your Poetry on Substack is a follow on from my bestselling book Plant Your Poetry, which aims to support and gently guide readers and writers towards a flourishing writing life. In the hope of harnessing the magic power of our growing community on Facebook, I’ve migrated to Substack in order to connect with more writers wishing to grow their writing practice.
This month’s theme was Growth and I will be sharing some of the incredible poems that were written over that time in the writing session today. Personally, there was a lot of growth to be had this past month as my husband and I reach the two month mark of being parents. I feel as if I’ve grown so much in such a short space of time, but nothing compared to how much my little girl is learning and taking in each day, it’s mesmerizing to watch.
I hope this month has motivated you to continue this journey with us in any way that works for you, so if you would love to keep planting your poetry then you can upgrade to paid (just 3.50 GBP a month, or 30 GBP for a whole year) to receive 365 days worth of prompts plus free writing sessions, access to the community chat where you can share your poems and ask me anything about writing, editing and submitting poetry.
You will need to upgrade to paid via the desktop browser as I believe it’s not yet possible to upgrade on the app! If you sign up today you will receive a writing session tomorrow to kick of the month of May, which will arrive in your inbox and will be available for you to access whenever you want.
A reminder for everyone: there is a subscriber only chat available where you can share your words daily as you write them, I will be posting a new thread tomorrow and at the beginning of each month and you can reply to the thread with your poems, that way they will be easy to find and others working their way through the prompts can offer their support and encouragement towards your beautiful lines of poetry. I will be reading every piece that is written and will highlight poems that resonate on the 1st of the next month.
I’m so excited to go on this journey with you - let’s dive in!
How was this writing session for you? Please do let me know in the comments and do share with anyone you think would love to go on this journey with us. Thank you again for sampling what we do here at Plant Your Poetry, please do spread the word!
All that’s left to do is write.
