Promptvent
25 days of winter prompts to thaw your writers (ice)block - and this year it's all about being Cozy.
An invitation for you…
Imagine you are standing at the foot of a huge Christmas advent calendar, with windows big enough to walk through. Each window holds a world to another place, as magical or as visceral as you could dream it to be.
Yes, there may even be chocolate too - but what if each window was a poem? A piece of your heart transcribed and offered up, now dancing around you and anyone who seeks to open it that particular day. What would that poem look like, what would it say?
Join me, a cozy loving poet for Promptvent - a guided prompt advent calendar designed to help you thaw writers block and ease any tensions brought on by this busy and often demanding season.
I’ve been writing on one prompt every single day for the past two years, offering free daily poetry prompts on my Instagram for almost as long with an incredible community of writers, helping others to plant their poetry and grow their writing habit.
This nook is your space to reflect, pour joy and/or grief and place your unique thumb print into the ever-shifting snow drift that is - the writers life. This needn’t be a time of solitude (unless you really need it!) Share the prompts and your writing with family and loved ones if you wish, perhaps you can write together, handmake the poems and hang them as Christmas decorations, or have a Christmas poetry reading with your family on Boxing Day.
Join me from Sunday 1st December 2024 where I will be sharing one wintry prompt per day, with some festive inspiration. Write whatever wants to be written, be it poetry, prose, a short story, or a paragraph that may turn into a longer piece later.
The point is - to write.
Share your words in the comments of each prompt post, or tag me in your notes and I will reshare and enter you into a prize draw for a very special gift, the winner will be announced by the 31st December so you have some time to write beyond Christmas Day, when all of the hustle and bustle (hopefully) dies down.
This is free for subscribers of Plant Your Poetry, and exclusive to Substack, so please do share and restack so others know where to find us, a cozy flame flickering in the dark winter’s night.
All that’s left to do - is write.
Keep Cozy,
