The only mulled drink I know is mulled wine . Being a sweetened drink I tend to avoid it . I appreciate fully how others enjoy the warming spicy mix . Over the years I might politely accept an egg cup full .
The other night I spent some hours at a Christmas Market and my friend bought me one . It was delightful , made in a huge copper vat, it was gorgeous. The temperature was perfect and the wine chosen and subtle mix of spices worked well . Typical spices are anise , cinnamon , cloves , other added ingredients are some orange and sometimes brandy. Obviously stalls selling mulled wine keep their recipes secret .
Mulling is a principle of heating and sweetening in a way that ingredients blend in after being thrown together . Similar to mulling over a problem , stewing over ideas thrown together until a solution is found .

PromptVent Day 17
I only drink the non alcoholic version these days 😂
She's red and sweet and oh so spicy
with a wink to orange
and a nod to cinnamon
Feel her flooding you with warmth
and conviviality
But beware, too much of her
will leave your head banging
your stomach queasy
and your memory of the night before gone

Like wine, enhanced by spices,
life has many flavours.
Not all are to my taste alone,
but blended make a taste to savour.
